PSSLAI donated Computers to Southern Police District
Public Safety Savings and Loan Association, Inc. (PSSLAI) donated Three (3) Sets of Computer Desktops with Printers to the Southern Police District (SPD). The Turn-Over Program was held on June 30, 2011, Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Headquarters, Southern Police District. No less PCSUPT JOSE ARNE M DE LOS SANTOS, District Director, SPD personally received the said office equipment.
PSSLAI Representative handling over to PCSUPT JOSE ARNE M DE LOS SANTOS, District Director, SPD the Three (3) sets of Computer Desktops with Printers and pertinent documents. Also present were PSSUPT ROLANDO E ASUNCION, Chief, District Directorial Staff, PSUPT ARJUN LUIG, Chief, District Personnel Human Resource Doctrine and Development Division, SPD and PSINP VERBA, Chief, District Tactical Operation Center (DTOC).
It’s always been a pleasure for the Southern Police District (SPD) to be part of the noble objective of PSSLAI of providing the PNP personnel investment opportunities, and help them cope with the rising needs of daily living.
SPD undertakes Pre- AGI-ORSITE
In line with the AGI-ORSITE 2011, the Southern Police District Headquarters (SPD) conducted a pre-inspection at the Makati City Police Station this morning and the succeeding days to come is scheduled to the 6 other police of SPD. PSSUPT FEDERICO P CASTRO JR, Deputy District Director for Operation together with the members of the SPD Directorial Staff head the Pre AGI-ORSITE team during the inspection.
The Pre AGI-ORSITE activity were being undertaken by SPD in order to determine the readiness of police personnel on various operational preparations as well as on administrative-related compliances .The team will also assessed the morale of every personnel, proper wearing of uniforms, records, firepower, mobility and cleanliness of the station.
What is right should be kept right and what is wrong should be set right and will serve as a basis to further improve our services to the people whom we have vowed to serve and protect.
Police stations with commendable performances during the Pre AGI-ORSITE will be recognized immediately after the inspection.
50 SPD Personnel to graduate Criminal Investigation Course
In order to increase the quantity and quality of field investigators who must possess the knowledge, skills and the proper attitude to work on a case until it is resolved by the court with finality, the PNP as the premiere law enforcement agency of the country had institutionalize and standardize all investigation trainings nationwide.
On July 8, 2011, fifty (50) police investigators of Southern Police District will be graduating from their Criminal Investigation Course after one (1) month of more pencil pushing and lamb/candle burning just to internalize all the lectures of the best available professionals in the community who can assist the PNP in this endeavor.
The conduct of said training by Police Regional Offices simultaneously is not only timely and wise but practical and sustainable as well for it was designed for Police Commissioned Officers (PCOs) and PNCOs alike, is both ladderized and hierarchical, and of a progressive nature to suit various competency requirements based on their ranks or positions and the nature of investigative roles they perform.
This training on investigation will be continuous one until all personnel have been trained although priority must be given to those assigned with investigation offices especially those designated as investigators but without any formal investigation training.

Senior Police Officer Examination
The Southern Police District (SPD) commended this morning during the flag raising ceremony at Headquarters Southern Police District PO1 Che Mayo M Guevara of the District Public Safety Battalion (DPSB) for garnering the highest score of 84.76% in the nationwide NAPOLCOM Senior Police Officer Examination conducted on April 17, 2011.
This commendable achievement of PO1 Guevara clearly manifests his commitment to excellence and high standard of professionalism worthy of emulation by other members of the police organization.
His efforts in burning the proverbial midnight lamp did not go waste, for this had brought prestige and honor not only to himself but the Southern Police District as well.
Pateros escapee surrendered
One of the detainees who escaped at dawn yesterday at the Pateros Police Station Temporary Detention cell surrendered this morning at 6:00. He was identified as Erwin Constantino y Dayao charged for Robbery Hold-up with IS No. XV-18H-INQ-11E-607-609. Constantino peacefully surrendered to the arresting team after he was convinced by his girlfriend to surrender himself to avoid further harm.
Prior to his surrender, Constantino were monitored to have communicated with his girlfriend and agreed to meet at Sitio Moonlight, Hagonoy, Taguig City at 3:00 am, bringing along with her some food stuffs. And at about 6:00 am, he finally decided to surface and peacefully give-up to the lawmen.
On the other hand, the Pateros Police Station was still conducting massive manhunt operation for the immediate arrest of the other escapee.
Record shows that the four escapees are still under the custody of the Pateros Police Station as they have yet to undergo inquest proceedings.
SPD Tree Planting Activity
The Southern Police District (SPD) had conducted a tree planting and other greening activities within the Southern Police District Compound vacant lot on June 25, 2011 in support of the Philippine Arbor Day on planting TREES.
The said activity aims to foster partnerships and environmental stewardship among various sectors of society and in order to increase the level of conciousness of the PNP personnel on the importance of preserving and protecting the environment for future generations. No less than PCSUPT JOSE ARNE M DE LOS SANTOS, District Director of the Southern Police District spearheaded the said activity with the members of the SPD PCR family.
SPD received new Tourist Police equipment from Resort World
The Southern Police District (SPD) headed by PCSUPT JOSE ARNE M DE LOS SANTOS, received this morning from the Security Management Office of the Resort World, Manila led by Mr. Fritz Padilla, 3 bikes, reflectorized vest, and helmets for the use of the 14 tourist police assigned at Newport City.
Aside from the new equipment received the 14 tourist police assigned in the area, they were also included in the “Customer Service Relations Training” conducted by the management of Resort World, Manila with the other employees. This is to enhance further their skills in customer service.
The deployment of policemen known as "tourist police", in key destinations in southern metropolis area is to assist and ensure the safety of both local and foreign tourist/nationals visiting the country. And aside from deploying policemen, policewomen were also deployed to augment the tourist police team. Deployment of personnel is 24/7.
And to realized our commitment in making police services more accessible to both local and foreigners and to help make the Southern Manila a friendly city and further strengthen the tourist industry of the country, a Tourist Assistance Center (TAC) was established within the immediate vicinity of the tourist area where the police could immediately give appropriate security and related public safety services to both foreign and local tourists. While the Police Assistance Desk (TAD) was established to the nearest police community precinct where any complaint regarding our visitors will be referred to for appropriate action and eventual investigation.
SPD’s No. 4 Most Wanted Person Nabbed
Southern Police District- Manuel Martinez y Bernardino the SPD’s No. 4 most wanted person and placed as Makati City’s No. 2 most wanted person was arrested at 7:00 a.m., today along Progress Street, Barangay Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City.
Martinez was arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest for cases of three (3) counts of rape (incestuous )issued by Judge Oscar B Pimentel RTC Branch 148 Makati City with cc # 597-599.
Joint efforts of Makati City Police Station Intelligence Section, Warrant and Subpoena Section led by PSI RUTHER SAQUILAYAN together with personnel of the District Intelligence Division, collared the suspect.
Following the arrest of the No. 7 most wanted person in Paranaque City last Friday , barely 4 days, SPD were again able to arrest another most wanted person within its area of responsibility.
The operation was in response to the call of PCSUPT JOSE ARNE M DE LOS SANTOS, District Director, to intensify to hunt all most wanted persons in the Southern metropolis area.
SPD Conducted Disaster Response Drill
The Southern Police District (SPD) is fine-tuning its own disaster preparedness plan to improve its disaster response capability for the onset of the annual seasonal typhoon.
A Disaster Response Drill was held at Headquarters Southern Police District in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City this morning to assess the readiness and preparedness of its personnel in responding to emergency and disaster situations that require swift response from public safety and emergency services, for possible actual deployment in search and rescue operations.
The drill also aims to apply and enhance the acquired skills learned by our policemen in their search and rescue training.
Simulated scenarios that requires practical application of skills in first aid, basic life support, boat-handling, knot-tying and removal of debris in collapsed structures were among those included during the drills.
The Search and Rescue teams were organized from the District Public Safety Battalion (DPSB) under the stewardship of PSUPT ADOLFO SAMALA.
This activity is one way to improve, and enhanced the SPD disaster preparedness and response management in support of other concerned agencies during critical incident and to find better ways of ensuring readiness to effectively address emergency and disaster situations in the future.
Stray bullet hit lady passersby
A lady passersby was hit by a stray bullet on her left shoulder during an exchange of fire ensued between 2 PCP 4 personnel of Pasay City Police Station and 3 unidentified armed men riding tandem on motorcycle without plate number on June 19, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. along Park Avenue, Pasay City.
The lady passersby who sustained gunshot wound and presently undergoing medical treatment at Pasay City General Hospital was identified as ARCEL DEFENSOR y PRIETO, 28 years old, married, housewife and a resident of Blk 1, Lot 1, California West Hills, Imus Cavite.
Investigation disclosed that on or about 5:00 PM, June 19, 2011, PO2 Jeoffrey Cionelo and PO1 Renie Lagrimas assigned at PCP-4, Pasay City Police Station were dispatched to conduct patrol and provide area security at the vicinity of Our Lady of Fatima Church located along Park Avenue, Pasay City when they chanced upon three (3) malefactors on board a colored red XRM motorcycle with unknown plate number suddenly snatched the pouch bag containing cellphone and undetermined amount of cash money of a lady church goer identified as ALIZIA RAMOS y MADLA, 50 years old, married, housewife and residing at No. 1809 Vergel St., Pasay City.
The two policemen run after the suspects, but the snatchers who were armed with hand guns fired upon them before they could implement tactical confrontation. PO1 Lagrimas fired back towards the suspects but during the exchange of fire, passersby Defensor were hit on her left shoulder by a stray bullet wherein the responding policemen immediately attended her. On the other hand, the robbers were able to escape bringing along with them the loot
A flash alarm was sounded for the possible arrest of the said snatchers.
Arrest of Robbery (Akyat-Bahay) Suspect
A robbery (akyat-bahay) suspect was arrested by elements of Las Pinas City Police Station at No. 15 Aqua Marine St., Emapalico Homes, Pamplona 1, Las Pinas City in the evening of June 17, 2011. The arrested suspect was identified as Jon Eric Ivan Magtira, 20 years old, single and a resident of No. 60 Gem St., Pilar Village, Las Pinas City. Also recovered from his possession during his arrest are: 1 caliber .38 snub nose colored stainless make paltik bearing nos. 9491 with four (4) live ammunitions and one spent shell place inside a tumbler; one (1) unit Samsung notebook laptop NC10; one (1) unit DVD C4 line; one (1) unit of Olympus digicam with charger; one (1) unit of My Phone; assorted jewelry and undetermined amount of cash and foreign currencies.
Investigation disclosed that on June 17, 2011 at about 11:00 p.m., a robbery incident was in progress at No. 15 Aqua Marine St., Emapalico Homes, Pamplona 1, Las Pinas City. The incident was by Jacinta Baldino y Gicomo, 35 years old, house helper to Dante Escote, Security Guard of Jericho Security Agency and duty guard of Emapalico Homeowner Association who in turn personally came to the office of Station Traffic Enforcement Unit (STEU) of Las Pinas City Police Station and requested for police assistance.
Responding policemen immediately proceeded at the aforementioned place of incident together with the security guard. Upon arrival, Baldino informed the responding police officers that the suspect is still inside their house. They were allowed to come inside the dwelling for room searching to locate the suspect apparently, the latter was gone.
PO3 Crisola checks the back portion of the house wherein the suspect fired at him. As a result, PO3 Crisola and PO1 Alvarez fired back which resulted to immediate arrest of the suspect and recovered from his possession a caliber .38 snub nose colored stainless make paltik bearing nos. 9491 with four (4) live ammunitions and one spent shell inside the tumbler, one (1) unit Samsung notebook laptop NC10, one (1) unit DVD C4 line, one (1) unit of Olympus digicam with charger, one (1) unit of My Phone, assorted jewelry and undetermined amount of cash and foreign currencies.
Suspect was rushed to Las Pinas Doctors Hospital for medical treatment but said hospital refused to accept the injured suspect. He was then transferred at Zarate Hospital at Pulang Lupa 2. At about 2:44 PM, suspect expired declared by Dr. Albert Zarate.
No. 7 Most Wanted Person of Paranaque City Arrested
Joint elements of Warrant & Subpoena Section and Intelligence Unit of Paranaque City Police Station led by PCI MICHAEL G CHAVEZ and District Intelligence Division led by PSINSP Leonardo N Madrid arrested at 11:30 am, today TOTO RESTERIO, aka “TOTO”, 18 yrs. old, single, jobless, residing at Purok 3, Masville Compound, Brgy. B.F., Paranaque City and the No. 7 Most Wanted Person of Paranaque City. Resterio was a member of RESTERIO GROUP, involved in the series of robbery hold-up incident at Brgy. B.F., Paranaque City. His group last attacked in area was on February 4, 2011, were they killed on the spot their last victim ROEL POLLENTES y DELADIA, from Tanauan, Batangas
Resterio was nabbed on strength of a Warrant of Arrest for Robbery with Homicide issued by HON. FORTUNITO L. MADRONA of RTC Branch 274 Paranaque City with C.C. No. 11-0187.
The arrest of Resterio was based on the information received on June 15, 2011 by the Paranaque City Police Station, that subject person was seen at Lower Bicutan, Taguig City and at Aplaya, Buli, Muntinlupa City respectively. Taking cognizance on the report, PSSUPT. NESTOR R PASTORAL, Chief of Police Paranaque Police Station immediately instructed PCI Michael G Chavez to conduct surveillance operation for possible arrest of the suspect, in coordination with the Station’s Warrant and Subpoena Section and District Intelligence Division on June 17, 2011. A t about 7:55 AM same date, the operatives strategically positioned themselves along Area 2, Purok 6, Mauling Creek, Lower, Bicutan, Taguig City. After 4 hours of patiently waiting subject person suddenly appeared from an alley, where he was collared by joint elements of the Paranaque City Police and District Intelligence Division.
Suspect TOTO RESTERIO, whose true name as JOEL RESTERIO Y LAZARITO III, was turn-over to Warrant and Subpoena Section of Paranaque City Police Station for proper disposition and was presently detained at Paranaque City Jail.
150 grams of Shabu confiscated from a rider driving without helmet
Southern Police District (SPD) - Elements of Pasay City Police Station while conducting checkpoint operation along Libertad St., FB Harrison, Pasay City on June 15, 2011 at about 12:30 a.m. flagged down a male person riding in tandem on a motorcycle without helmet. During the inspection, the lawmen were able to discover from the said person’s possession 150 grams (more or less)of suspected shabu and two (2) .45 caliber that led to his immediate arrest. Subject person was identified as Pedro Vergara Jr y Arizaba, 36 years old, married, jobless and a resident of Barangay 15 San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.
Cases for Violation of Section 2 and 5 of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002), Violation of RA 10054 (Riding Motorcycle without Helmet), and Violation of PD 1866 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition) is now being readied against Vergara.
Shooting Incident involving PNP personnel
A shooting incident involving a PNP personnel transpired at Bayabas St., Western Bicutan, Taguig City on or about 6:00 PM, June 15, 2011. Victim was identified as PO1 Venerando Pantino, 28 years old, married, assigned at NCRPO Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City and a resident of 89B Champaca St., Western Bicutan, Taguig City who sustained three (3) gunshot wounds and in critical condition.
Suspect was identified by his brother in law, Albert Berrenguerer y Santos as Michael Nabor y Lopresa, 28 years old, married and a resident of B49 L30 Purok 2 Central Bicutan, Taguig City who was also shot by PO1 Pantino. Suspect was arrested but his companion managed to escape bringing with him the gun wielder’s firearm. Motive is still unknown. Victim and wounded suspect are confined at Taguig Pateros District Hospital.
Follow-up operations is on going.
A Barangay Kagawad was shot by two (2) unidentified malefactors
riding in tandem on a motorcycle
A shooting incident transpired at about 5:45 PM of June 14, 2011 in front of victim’s house located at Block 38 Lot 9 United SS Brigade Western Bicutan, Taguig City. The victim, EDNA PASCUA y RABAGO, 56 years old, married, Barangay Kagawad of Western Bicutan, presently confined at Saint Lukes Medical Center, Taguig City sustained two (2) gunshot wounds on her face.
Initial investigation was based on the account given by a witness identified as Geraldine Polon y Ced, 42 years old, single, formal complaint clerk of Barangay Western Bicutan, and a resident of B-4 L-13 United SS Brigade Village Western Bicutan, Taguig City. She claimed that prior to the incident, she and the victim boarded a tricycle coming from the Barangay Hall of Western Bicutan. The witness was the first to alight from the tricycle followed by herein victim and while opening the gate of their compound, she noticed that two (2) unidentified malefactors suddenly arrived riding in tandem on a motorcycle while victim was behind her. She saw the backrider alighted from the motorcycle and drew a pistol handgun on his waist and pointed it to the victim but due to fear, she hurried inside the compound and sought the help of the residents and relatives of the victim.
The witness later on heard three (3) successive shots of gunfire and when she returned to the scene, she saw the victim lying bloodied on the road pavement with gunshot wounds on her face.
The witness further averred that the gunman was wearing black bullcap and black jacket, more or less 5’6” in height, medium built, fair complexion while the driver was wearing black helmet and black jacket.
The suspects fled on board their motorcycle towards the direction of FTI, Taguig City while victim was first brought to Taguig-Pateros District Hospital and later on transferred to Saint Lukes Medical Center, Taguig City for further medical treatment.
Upon taking cognizance of the case, personnel of PCP 1, Taguig City Police Station, led by PSI PATRICIO MANLIMID conducted dragnet operation. They received an information that a motorcycle was being driven too fast in the direction of FTI compound near Habitat Housing. Follow-up operations was conducted that resulted to the recovery of the get away motorcycle, one (1) Euro Motorcycle 110 colored black with For Registration plate beside Building 7 Habitat, FTI Compound, Taguig City.
A team from SOCO-SPD led by PCI MAJA ORILLA conducted the technical investigation and was able to recover three (3) fired bullets from a caliber 9mm at SS Brigade and one (1) Euro Motorcycle 110 colored black with For Registration plate at Habitat FTI.
Massive manhunt and follow-up operations is on going to ascertain the identity and whereabouts of the suspects.
Southern Police District to conduct blood-letting activity
The Southern Police District (SPD) will conduct a blood-letting activity in cooperation with the Philippine Blood Center (PBC) on June 14, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon to be held at the HSPD Grandstand, Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City.
This activity is part of the Police Community Relations activity and commitment to help the Philippine Blood Center (PBC) in ensuring a regular blood donation activity and sustain an adequate supply of blood for the benefit of police personnel and their dependents.
At least one hundred (150) participants from the SPD headquarters and its seven (7) police stations will join this noble activity. SPD however welcomes walk-in donors.
SPD launched a 1 day legal assistance program “Project Gabay’
Our men in uniform are tasked to walk the beat and bravely face the daily dangers of police work. In the pursuit of its mission to serve and protect the public against organized crime syndicates, policemen are susceptible to lawsuits. It is in this view that the PNP, Chief has made legal assistance as one of his priority projects. We have to take care of our men for as long as they are doing the right thing.
The Southern Police District (SPD) launched this morning a one (1) day legal assistance program, dubbed as “Project Gabay" which was held at HSPD Conference Room and was attended by SPD personnel with pending administrative/criminal and even civil cases filed against them.
This Legal Assistance Program is a joint undertaking of PCSUPT HEROLD UBALDE of the PNP Legal Service; PCSUPT ALAN LA MADRID PURISIMA, Regional Director, NCRPO and PCSUPT JOSE ARNE M DE LOS SANTOS, District Director, SPD vowed to "rush to the aid" of a police officer facing who are burdened by service-related cases arising from the performance of his official duty and to give direct financial assistance or reimbursement of legal expenses.
The project was realized through the lawyers from the PNP Legal Service led by PCINSP RONALD T LAOYAN and 4 others; Atty. Beverly Manzano, Public Attorney II of Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), Quezon City and PCINSP ALFREDO AUSTRIA ,Legal Office, SPD who offered their services for free to our brother police officers present who shared their expertise to ensure that our men in uniform will be duly protected in the interest of the police service and pursuant to the provisions of existing laws.”
Southern metro cop to celebrate Independence Day
The Southern Police District (SPD) is one with the whole nation in celebrating of the country's 113th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Philippine Independence on June 12, 2011.
PCSUPT JOSE ARNE M DE LOS SANTOS, District Director, SPD will lead the Flag Raising Ceremony at HSPD Grandstand, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on June 12,2011 at 7:oo a.m. as a way of commemorating the country’s independence.
The celebration of the Philippine Independence is to recognize the sacrifices of the veterans and retirees who fought to free our country and its people from foreign colonization to attain the country’s freedom and democracy.
103 Post Blast Investigators graduated
One hundred three (103) PNP personnel who composed the Post Blast Investigation Course Class 2011-01 have finally graduated this morning at the Philippine Navy Officer’s Club, Marine Corps Headquarters, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City after having satisfactorily completed the necessary requirement for the course. These PNP personnel are from SPD headquarters, SWAT EOD and investigators of the different police stations under SPD as well as walk in participants from the other police district of NCRPO.
This training course was provided by the Southern Police District (SPD) leadership thru the District Investigation and Detection Management Division (DIDMD) led by PSUPT ELWIN DC FERNANDEZ, Chief DIDM in coordination with the Philippine Bomb Data Center (PBDC) for SWAT EOD personnel and police investigators as part of the PNP’s response to the recent cases of bomb explosions coupled with the present threat of terrorism, especially by unrepentant militants and to avert terrorism activities.
The most useful concept that one had learned from this training is to follow a step-by-step process in collecting post-blast components and securing the area before its trampled and evidence is destroyed and more importantly, help prevent future blasts-and save lives.
"It's like putting a jigsaw puzzle together, one that's burned and shattered with no defined pieces, and knowing what the device assures that countermeasures can be designed."
With the training that this district (SPD), had offered, we (SPD) are confident that it makes each one the PBIC graduates more capable and competent law enforcers to combat terroristic activities perpetrated by lawless elements. Now possesses the specialized skills needed to investigate and identify various kinds of bombs and explosives and that would eventually transform you later on into explosive investigators/ specialists at par with the best in the world.
SPD Director and Staff conduct school rounds
The Southern Police District (SPD) director and his staff conducted their ocular inspections at the different schools in Southern Metropolis area on the start of the opening of classes as early as 3:00 a.m., today. The purpose of the inspection is to ensure the safety of the students, parents, teachers and school officials and also to check on the deployment of our policemen manning the students and parents’ assistance desks (SPADs).
Aside from conducting security assessments to ensure the safety of the coming students, ugnayan/meeting with the schools officials/administrators were also undertaken and leaflets on security tips, sticker and “Subukan Nyo Po Kami” cards were also distributed to students, parents as well as teachers and other school officials within the school premises.
The presence of policemen and the barangay force multipliers with some civilian volunteers will continue to be seen in schools in the coming days to keep the students safe from lawless elements.
Three (3) robbery hold-up members killed in shoot-out
and 1 Arrested by SPD Operatives
Three (3) robbery hold-up members, including a policeman, were killed in a shoot-out with Southern Police District (SPD) operatives last night in El Punte Buello, 4th Estate Subdivision, Barangay San Antonio , Paranaque City while one (1) of the suspect was arrested in a grassy portion of the subdivision by the barangay tanods. He was identified as Martin Ty, 24 years old, single, of Sitio Libjo, Multi-National Village, Brgy Moonwalk, Paranaque City. Suspects Rowell Masudog of Panapaan-2, Tanza, Cavite and Melvin Nadilgas of Editorial Street, Fourth Estate Subdivision Sucat, Paranaque were killed in a gun battle with policemen who responded in the subdivision on their reported presence instead of surrendering peacefully. PO3 Ulpiano Bulido Jr. was declared dead on arrival at 9:15 PM at the Paranaque Medical Center.
Initial investigation showed that a concerned citizen called-up the Southern Police District Office (SPDO) at 4:00 pm Saturday that a blue Nissan Sentra sedan with plate number TRM-897 was suspiciously roaming inside the Fourth Estate Subdivision with 2 Yamaha Mio motorcycles with plate number 7244-TS and one with a dilapidated plate. Acting on the report, a team was immediately dispatched to verify the veracity of report.
At about 8:40 p.m. the elements of DSOG- SPD led by PCINSP ALLAN UMIPIG who are at time in the area, heard shouting for help coming from the said establishment (Praise Security Agency)owned by Willy Sta. Romana, 33 years old of El Puentebello Street, Fourth Estate Subdivision Sucat, Paranaque City. The policemen wasted no time and gave a chase to the fleeing suspects. Suspects, instead of peacefully gave-up, began firing at the sight of the lawmen.
Recovered from the suspects possession is the salary intended to some of the security guard and employees amounting to more or less P85, 000 cash, the 14 pieces of .38 caliber pistols of the security agency, and assorted cell phones taken from the victim and his family.
The firearms of the suspects a .22 magnum with serial number 564434; homemade .38 caliber pistol without serial number and .45 caliber pistol with serial number 1761746.
Follow-up operations and an in-depth investigations is still being undertaken to arrest and identify other members of the group.
SPD Ready for the Opening of Classes
The Southern Police District (SPD) security and safety plan for the opening of classes on June 6 Monday are all set just to ensure the safety and security of the students, parents, teachers and school officials.
Of priority concern to the PNP are incidents of street crimes such as pick pocketing, snatching, swindling, robbery/hold-up, and street-level drug trafficking and violent street gangs that may infiltrate the ranks of students. Thus, SPD aside its enhanced deployment on Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) of 1,245 personnel, SPD will be deploying an additional of 591 PNP uniformed personnel and 479 force multipliers in the 278 schools, 145 public school and 133 private schools SPD wide. A students and parents assistance desk (SPAD) will also be established to be manned by police and BPAT personnel with the strategic goal of “zero crime incident in all school and university areas.
And to ensure smooth and orderly flow of traffic, Traffic personnel will just the same be deployed within the immediate vicinities of schools in coordination with the local traffic personnel and school security marshals. Deployment of personnel will start not only during the opening of classes, but might go beyond.
Guidelines in addressing crime prevention and awareness in relation to the opening of classes has also been laid down as part of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Oplan “Balik Eskwela 2011.”
SPD covers the area of Pasay City, Makati City, Paranaque City, Las Pinas City, Muntinlupa City, Taguig City and the lone municipality of Pateros.
SPD prepares for the Rainy Seasons
Summer is over, be ready for the rainy seasons. POLICE CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT JOSE ARNE M DE LOS SANTOS, District Director of the Southern Police District ordered the Chiefs of Police of the seven (7) Police Stations under SPD and the District Public Safety Battalion (DPSB) to start checking and testing once again their search and rescue equipment with all the available search and rescue equipments.
Precautionary measures and disaster response activities in coordination with the local government units, medical teams and barangay officials must have also undertaken to ensure that during the rainy seasons everybody is well prepared and ready to respond to any eventualities to achieve that “no casualties” will be reported.
